Hi all,

Can you please have a look at a little animation I recently made:

[click on the image there to see the animation in my portfolio]
Sorry for this "cross posting around the corner" - I just try not to produce too many dead links or redundancies.

Anyway

Please tell me what I could improve light wise (and any other C&Cs are also more than welcome)

I want to put more emphasis on the corcscrew at the end just before he lifts up. But I don't want to delete too many bottlenecks.
Lowering the general light and putting a spot on him seems a bit dull for me...
what are your suggestions?
Any hints are most welcome!

Thanks a lot
Uli

Well as you've probably realized, the problem is you've got a piece of metal in a pile of metal that you want to emphasize. As far as I can see, there's not much you can do lighting-wise if you don't want to darken the rest of the scene. Normally it would be worth trying to break up the lighting a bit to darken bits of the scene, but it would take away from the flat look.

You don't have to delete bottlecaps, but you can of course move some of them away from the corkscrew a bit to give it a bit more contrast. You can also direct more attention to the center of the camera view by adding more vignetting, but that's also a question of style.

BTW, I have the same lens cap sitting on my desk :)

Hi Niko,
thanks for your suggestions. The idea of simply moving the bottlecaps is actually not bad... maybe I'll give it a try.
Let's gather a few more suggestions...

The water in your portfolio is amazing!
Does an animation exist? I would be really curious!!!

Thank you.
Uli

btw: I think lens caps prefer sitting on their friend the camera - put him back on, eh? ;-)

Thanks. I didn't render an animation because the scene bogged down the (quite recent) computer I had as it was already, maybe I'll give it another try in a year or so when RealFlow is faster.

Tell me when you've finished it.

btw:
Help there's motion blur in my velocity channelDoes that annoying "Idle Process" in the task manager use all the processor power as well?
:-P

anyway - thanks for the comments.

Anyone else? I'd really appreciate feedback!
Thanks
uli
