When I move one UV, the others move too. I wanted to align some of the UVs, but the UVs in a different place but belonging to the same vertices move with it. I did not have the problem when I opened a blank document, so I don't know whether it's certain settings or the object itself at fault here.
I tried 'Unlink vertices' but that didn't help.
Thanks.

Window type: UV/Image Editor
There is a drop down list button called "Sticky UV Selection".
Mouse over the buttons in the window header.. you'll find it.

Make sure it is NOT set to "Shared Vertex".

This sticky UV option causes just the effect you describe.
Set the Sticky UV selection to "Shared Location" or "Disabled".

Thanks. I see what you mean: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Blender3D_uv_sticky_uv_selection.png

but for some reason for that file the button is missing. I don't know what I did.

You have to disable the "Sync UV and Mesh Selection" button... then the button with the list will appear.
