1. You could buy MOTIONBUILDER PE for $100 (and an offer to upgrade to the permanent license of MB5 for another $100) : www.kaydarastore.com

2. Get a free copy of the MB PE (digit, 3dworld mag) and then get the option to convert to a permanent license of MB5 for $200

3. Wait before all promotions end and pay $995 for MB5 ...

Well you can get the personal learning edition with an unlimited license for personal or freelance use for only $200.00. Two ways you can do this... you can purchase the Motionbuilder 4 for $100 through 3dbuzz.com or I think through kaydara - or you can get it free off of next months 3dWorld magazine. If you pay the $100 up front, then some time after July 30 (I think that's the date) you can pay another $100 for a lifetime license. If you get it free from 3dworld (I think Digit Magazine had it on their cd a month or two ago) then you pay $200 for the unlimited license. Either way it costs $200 for a full license of motionbuilder.

Here's a post in this forum about it:

Motionbuilder post (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68100)

And with this deal, you get the upgrade to MB 5 also.

Edit - lol.... I could have sworn that Mr. Besner's post was not there when I posted..... oh well...seems I've said the same thing. It took me a few minutes to research the post above, so I guess that's where the 15 minute diff came in.....

Michel,

If we have the 1 year free license from filling out the website survey, what is the time frames for paying to get the permanent license?

If I remember correctly I think you had to upgrade before your 1 year license runs out.... they haven't started the upgrade to full licensing yet, but I think Michael Besner said that was coming within the next few weeks or so.

Michel, I know I have told you before but this is such an awesome deal from you guys. It was extremely generous when first offered at 3dbuzz but even more-so with the other options of getting in on it. Of course it goes without saying that motionbuilder is an awesome package and it doesn't take a genius to realize a freelance license (that you are able to actually use for commercial projects) is a steal for $200.

We as an industry can only hope that other companies take note and follow in your example :applause:

Thanks much!

Yeah motionbuilder is great and all, but it's more like a toy.
It has no place in a production pipeline. At least for film.
It's good for moCap and games, but it's hardly worth anything else.

Why pay $1000 for moCap clean up software when you can spend another grand and get top of the line production software?

Just my opinion....

I tried implementing this software into a pipeline once before, and we had nothing but problems.

Regards.

I don't want to discuss why it did not work out for you guys (hey, you can't win them all) but here is what I know:

1. Film co. such as SPI, ESC and Weta are successful in using MB

2. It is true that we've had great successes with games companies more than the film industry.

3. With the release of MB5 at $995, we are also adressing a market space where manu users are not good at doing high-quality rigging, scripting, or custom development but still cares about doing quality animation, which MB is quite capable of doing.

4. Maybe you just looked at MB for the mocap cleanup tools, but it's offers a lot more than that :-)

M.

PS : you know who I am, but I only know your alias and where you work. I'd like to know who you are and curious (off the forum) what you did not like or what made it that you could not integrate into your pipeline ....

Thanks !

Ok when you say permanent does that mean that it will not time out after one year? Will the license need to be updated annually? Really looks great to see the quad rigging available in 5. Getting more and more interested in this product.:)

Now that you've put out the fire, could you please answer my question Michel?

Michel Besner

1. The promotion to upgrade to a permanent license will be between August 1st and December 31st ...

We will e-mail you details once it goes live ..

2. We usually ship a major version every year. Nothing has been announced if you still can upgrade if you skipped a major release (not upgrading to 6.0 but trying to upgrade for 7.0 ...)

Our goal is that every major version of so exciting that you will upgrade because you want the new feature - not because we are forcing you :-)
