I've run into a problem.. I've looked all over the web for a tutorial for this problem but nobody seems to have the answer.

I made a logo in Adobe Illustrator and Imported it to 3ds Max

I want the letters to be curved... like this:

So i tried Converting to Poly then insetting the face then selecting the center faces
and move them up to make a sort of curve

but when I try to inset the face

this is what happens:

if i try insetting more the results are just totally screwed up

I've also tried extruding and chamfering and beveling with the same results

What do i do?

your help is greatly appreciated

What is going on here is your inset is causing faces to lay over each other. You need to adjust the vertices so they are no longer doing that. In the corners you will probably want to weld the vertices together. Hope this helps.

that seems like a load of work, is there any more simple way to do that or to have it done automatically?

I got started but got interrupted too early to be sure. i was getting promising preliminary results from:

Turn text to editable poly
Use cut to... tile up the shapes. Make [_________] into [][][][][][][].
Extrude, maybe short, long, short to get the right edge effect.
Top will need to be cloned down to the bottom and welded on.
Then turbosmooth.

+1
and don't select all faces at once and apply the same inset on all of them. There are different widths on each letter and that means that the inset values must adjust to that.
