CGTalk - blend shape doubt

Is there any way to blend one object to another from top to bottom (not complete object at a time). I mean at the time of changing the value from 0 to 1, object changes are appear in top and gradually changes are appear in bottom.

Please give me the guidence.

There is an option to paint blendshape weight....may be you can hook up the painted weight value so that it animates gradually from top to bottom.
