(http://assets.cgsociety.org/nvart/226034_1234241059/1024bound)Done entirely in photoshop. This is my first time entering into this kind of competition, and actually the first painting that I ever finished. I'm looking forward to getting some critiques from everyone to help with my next image, which I've already started on.

I've got to say, you aimed and hit the target. For a first painting you've done a great job. I just got a pen tablet for free so i am just learning the real art involved with painting. But keep things up and you'll be noticed. great job.
Thanks guys, im really looking forward to finishing my next entry because I think its going to be even better. There was definitly a steep learning curve, since I had to learn almost from the beginning about painting in photoshop.
vandal: pen tablets are definitly an essential. I shelled out a good one after I realized that.

I think this entry has 100% Yerka's colors!Nice job.
Good luck!
I definitly tried to get the colors as close as I could, because I think it helps give the image a closer feel to that of yerkas.

i like this one!
it also reminds me of salvador dalis work a little bit, possibly the tendril like noodle type shapes, as i remember a couple of his images used that style too.
also the main rock formation with the buildings reminds me of "sleep" by dali (http://www.3d-dali.com/Tour/sleep.htm).
i mean that in a good way :-) - very nice job
renall - thank you! I haven't studied much of dali's work so I really couldn't comment on any similarity. But its nice to hear that it reminds you of such a great artist.
