Im currently planning on getting a laptop for running maya 2008 and was wondering what laptop would do the job better. I have a limited budget and am looking at either a Dell studio 15 with 4GB RAM,ATI 3450 (256mb) or a HP G70-120EA with 3 GB RAM and Nvidia 9200 (256mb) both have Intel core 2 duo T5800 (2ghz).

Which laptop would run maya better?

Thanks.

Which laptop is better for Maya? Honestly, neither. The better option would be to invest in a desktop where you can get much more bang for your buck and be able to upgrade components (besides just the hard disk). Cheers!

i would say minimum nvidia 9600 for any decent maya work (or the equivalent of ATI) and 3 - 4 gigs of ram.

I wouldn't touch either of those models.

As stated 9600 or 9800s are what you'll need for a lappy to do 3d on.

Or hold off for nvidia to release a decent chip. Since the current crop of graphics hardware in laptops they have is technology over 4 years old.
