I was inspired by the beautiful iconic chinese propaganda art - wanted to have something of that flavour but I didn't want to offend.

Lots of great content (looks like you're being a generalist?) For match-moving, the robot shot is fine, but if it is to focus on the animation, it doesn't fit with the rest of the reel. Your strengths were very strong, but the animation wasn't.
The only other thing that irked me was the VHS emulation. I gotta hand it to you, it looked awesome, and it looked pretty real (reel for pun), but it willonly hurt the viewers of your reel when they are trying to analyze what you give them. I would think looking at hundreds of reels a day would be hard, but if you make it harder by distorting the images, they will eject your reel.

The match-moving was pretty solid, but maybe integrate some elements in seamlessly and break it down, to show that full fledged ability.

These tips are pretty good as well.

All in all, nice reel.

Not being a nationalist, but do you have any connections at weta? I know its a distance from you but its a small world and even smaller industry!

Again, nice reel.

Hey Donald - thanks a lot, some really solid points there, I'm going to make adjustments.

The only connections I have with Weta are a few student/workmates/tutors that work in digital or at the workshop, I only know these people because the industry is small over here,
If I got that reel tweaked as nice as I could and pulled some strings maybe I could get a job there, but I feel like its hard being a generalist (sufficiently amateur in all areas!) I'm willing to specialise in any area though.

thanks again :)
