View Full Version : Mudbox 2009 QuickStart Series: New Site
DarthWayne 02-09-2009, 06:46 PM Mudbox 2009 QuickStart series: new site
www.DashDotSlash.info (http://www.DashDotSlash.info)
After the massive interest and bandwidth the QuickStart series has been using up from users all over the world, I thought it was about time to round them all up into one site so that people could find any video from the series that they need fast and track the whole set down easily. So as such I've moved all videos to a new domain name completely separate form my main site. (As they were starting to take over what in reality is my 'work' site.)
There are now well over 2 hours of QuickStart videos alone and another 8 hours of ground up (so far ;) ).
To open things up here's two new ones that cover ambient occlusion. The 1st video covers the whole amb occ baking process and what the settings mean in detail and the second covers little trick of mine that some users may find of use. There's still plenty more to come (including the entire 'Mudbox 2009: Fro the Ground Up' series embedded at high res in the site) and something else rather special.
Both videos are available on the 'New Features' page of the site and be sure to check out the rest of the videos if you haven't already.
Enjoy

Awesome !
Can you tell me why ? I mean Mudbox 2009 is ridiculous :) even the poor guy from Digital Tutors messed up the Mesh Topology when editing it with symmetry lmao, he was desperately trying to evade it and hide it with fast fly-by hahaha and then switched to none symmetrical editing hahaha.
MUDBOX 2009 IS A JOKE !

Its nice to see such a balanced non fan boy opinion from you. I'm sure all users are in awe at you completely unbiased apprasal of mudbox. But remember that opinions are like rectums...everyone has one. Although for the life of me I can't see how any of your post has ANYTHING to do with the QuickStart series. If you dont like the series, simply do not watch it, no one is twisting your arm..dont like mudbox? fine... ditto.
Feel free to forensically examine any of the quickstart or ground up videos and you'll see that not once does the mirror ever go out. But I've a feeling such a simple thing as a fact doesn't means much. A great many of users problems with mudbox intially were due to either bad driver configs / outdated hardware or user error.

DarthWayne, i'm sorry i was rude :)
Why don't you take the included in Mudbox meshes, Any of them, just add some devisions, enable symmetry, and click on one place on the mesh 30 times for example
Then don't be shy and post a pic of the result !
It will make an Amazing quickstart video too !!!
And you are wrong about the "non fan boy" opinion.
I hate Zbrush in my guts ! The insane menues and navigation in 3d space is nothing less then commiting suicide every time i have to use them !

Never mind, let me save you some time :)
Behold ! Mudbox 2009 SP1 Symmetry with default Box mesh, added devisions, and clicked on the same spot of the mesh about 30 times, symmetry enabled !

Will you make a quick start video on how to edit non destructively even the Base meshes in Mudbox ? :curious:

There you go..... :) no problem with mirror as far as I can see. Please remember the only person who I work for is me...and I do not usually take orders for free videos, but I made an exception this time as you were so sure that an error would occur.

@ Dimitree - Sod off. How annoying are you?!
I cant believe some people will have the cheek to either be rude or obnoxious when people give away free stuff. Specially stuff they worked for.
Go play with your marbles!

Great stuff Wayne! very kind of you. I haven't had the chance to really use mudbox 2009 yet, But that will eventually be very helpful.
Thanks.

Mudbox sphere base, Sculpt brush , video of, no problems.....
I doubt the users who watch these videos and use a third to quarter of a terrabyte of bandwidth ( that I personally bankroll) for the quickstart videos alone each and every month would agree with your assertation.
Although there is a very very easy way to always restore symmetry in a sculpted mesh. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding it in the help files.
