CGTalk - baking bump map?

is there a way to bake bump map like this (http://www.cg-art.i12.com/tex_1.htm) ? i tried copying bump layer to color, but it doesn't work very fine...

suggestions?

I didn't read the tutorial but to bake a bump create a gradient under the color channel and set the Input type to "Bump". Make a key frame at 1.0 (white) and change the key frame at 0 to black.
Then bake the color.
