View Full Version : MISC: Synchronizing animation to sound
TOMMY 3D FREAK 06-30-2003, 11:13 AM HI everyone, ;)
Can anyone help me out with the following? I've made a character which is supposed to dance to a music-clip. My question is: how do you synchronize the animation to the sound? I thought of maybe motion capturing it!? Plz help me, cause I'm kinda stuck!

Maybe the Audio Controller?

Hi,
I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough...
What I actually meant to say was, is that I want to somehow capture the rythm of the music so I can keyframe at the exacvt position of the beats, so to speak.
What I thought was: why don't I play back the music and motion capture the mouseposition, and then assign it to the appropriate tracks. This is just a guess.
I was wondering if any of you guys have ever done this before?
thanks in advance!

You can load the sound file in the Track View, see the waveform while you animate. You can also toggle Show Sound Track in the trackbar at the bottom of the UI.
Mocap utility might be fun, then adjust timing after reducing keys.

Just a thought:
In Winamp's AVS Editor, there's a beat detection thingy which you can use to measure the beat of the song, then when you have a "safe" bpm count you can use that with Max's metronome in the sound controller track.
