View Full Version : Architecture: a decorated wall in daylit
pradipta 06-30-2003, 08:55 AM Hi ... everybody,
i am currently working on this project. i made this model in the last three days and there still a lot to be completed. i just wanted to show this rendering to ll and i would lobve to see some comments from you ...
the entire model is modeled in 3dsmax 5. i used subdivision modeling, poly modelling, surface modeling for different parts. lots of detail design are there that i am still working on. this scene is rendered in default scanlind renderer of 3dsmax. i want to get a good sunlight using 3dsmax light only. is it looking proper ?
thanks for commenting ...

Nice! That is coming along very nicely.
It is hard to say anything about lighting yet, it looks good though... let us see it with materials and lighting :)

HI,
this is my third rendering. is it looking better than the previous model. i am adding more and more detail. still a lot to come.
i concentrated only on modeling, and didn't make any changes to the lighting.
thanks for all the comment ...http://www.cgchat.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=132863/swfile332-l.jpg

That is looking good. Nice attention to detail.
Is there more of that building or just this wall? I really would like to see more of it :)

it's coming up... looks nice.
i'd like to know if you want to put some statues inside. could be intresting to mix occidental architectures with oriental deities, such as shiva, what do you think?

the complete building is there, but it's too huge. it has already taken 3 mb space and took 20 minutes to render a single frame on my p 4 with 512 mb ram pc.
but, i will add more detail to it and model another floor below it, which is the ground floor.
thanks a lot for commenting ...

that would great, simply great ... it will be my dream come true when i can model statues of that kind. it will absolutely look amazing ... but, i also don't have good reference site from where i
can get detailed pictures of some statue, do you have any such site in mind ? would be grateful if you can help me ...
this structure is built by british in the year between 1800 and 1900 and its probably an instance of neo-classical architecture.
what are the features of occidental architectures [ shiva ] ? i am not familiar with this term.
thanks for your reply ...

this is my fourth rendering and i have completed modeling everything which was there in the picture. nothing more i have to model. i will create another floor below the one made currently and will add texture.
i made some changes in the color of the sunlight and i think it's looking more realistic right now. it took me 22 minutes to rendner in my pentium 4 with 512 mb ram pc because of the light tracer engine, but the effect is good.
looking for comments from you all. .. thanking you ...

thanks a lot for the picture. i am from india, the land of shiva, parvoti and buddah. there are numerous these statues in all over india but they are very tough to model. but still, i would try definitely. currently i am working on a car model and i will post that next day ...

after a long time i am back again with this scene ... i finished modeling most of the details and no more modeling left.
i made it in 3dsmax 5 without using external renderer ...

did u use brazil, right?
well i suggest you to increase supersampling in order to overcome the errors in thin particulars. i believe it's better than increase the samplers.

i don't have brazil or any other external rendering plugins. i used the standard 3dsmax 5 scanline renderer to render this scene. i used the light tracer light setup using sun light in which is new to 3dsmax 5.
here i am posting some progress i made recently. not fully textured, will complete it in another two days. waiting to see your comments on this ... thanks ...

Hi pradipta.
I like the texturing but find the lower green screens a little too bright - they should be in the shade, underneath the balcony, right?
Keep up the good work. And when you're done, don't forget to throw a piece of scenery on the background.

thanks for comments ... i will replace those green grooves with some matching groove. i just wanted to test the scene. selecting a suitable background is a challenge ...

after a long gap i have again started working on this scene. quite finished the texturing. but, this is not the latest render. i will post that tomorrow. it took me so long to render this one ... around 2 hours. that's huge for a single frame.
want to see some coments ... thanks ...

this is the final rendered image of the decorated wall i was working.
i modeled the structure entirely in 3smax 5 and used photoshop for texturing.
i tried to experiment with textures, and wanted a very old, neglected yet, aristocrative structure. i don't kow whether i am able to do that properly. i would like to see some commments ... thanks ...
hope to see it in your gallery ...
