I suggest you read the documentation. Contains information about how to setup hdri in XSI.

1) To tell you how to do HDRI efficently would be quite the post, I think if you read 1 of those 5 tutorials, you'll probably figure it out. Based off of those, if you have a problem, ask on the forums
