As of this post we now have 5 Cgtalkers in the top ten posters list.

It's kinda OT but I think its really cool that a "small" app like ours has such a strong showing.

Nah it just means five of us spend way to much time chatting. I've really slowed down in recent months. I made a lot fo those posts back when R8 came out, when I was averaging like 12 a day or something

S'funny. I have practically no posts here, yet my post count at CGchat is well over 6,030. Okay, it really wasn't funny. :p If it's any consolation, I do read this board daily. It has the best group of C4D users around.

it has absolutely nothing to do with any "Ascendency"
of C4DXL and everything to to do with some people doing more talking
about thier favorite program than actually creating with it:rolleyes:

Let us live in our forum and stop buggin us about C4D. Do you like it? keep using it. Don't you like it? Call Maxon to complain or use another software, and please stop whining. We're all tired of your attitude towards this forum and the software we use, i constantly receive complaints about you and i'm quite tired of this. Thank you.

Perhaps I spend to much time (as many of us joked in our posts) but at least we are talking about the software rather then talking about poser and LW in the C4D forum.

I'm not trying to start any trouble here, but if anobrin is so disruptive then why hasn't he been banned? Is he occasionally cocky? A bit. Can he be a little obnoxious at times? Maybe. Even so, he's not usually blatantly offensive, especially not in this thread.

ThirdEye_01: I know that you're annoyed by him. I understand that. As a moderator at CGchat, I get complaints about people all of the time. Sometimes, I just want to power slam them. Still, unless anobrin's directly violating some sort of board guideline then he should probably be cut some slack. Trust me. He may be a lot of things, but he's definitely not like the ever obnoxious and elusive "dave" from Postforum.

Anyway, that's just my $0.02. If it puts me in the same company as anobrin then so be it. As long as he's not flaming like a troll, the guy's got a right to speak his mind.

How do you peole post so much and deal with things like jobs, girlfriands/wives/kids etc? HAve you been able to 'Time-slice' your life and do more?

ThirdEye

How much time have you spent here in this forum cookepuss? Not much it seems since this is just the nth time this guy tries to annoy us with his complaints and his repetitive whining about C4D. I still can't understand why he still uses it. He doesn't like it? Ok keep using Poser and Lightwave. He doesn't like this forum and/or the people that populate this forum? Keep using the Lw forum. It's not a matter of free speech, it's a matter of respecting others and he never respects the software we use or us as people and our thoughts. My job is keeping this forum a place where everybody can express himself in a constructive way, i hate getting harsh or rude, i'm not a policeman nor i want to be a policeman. But if people keep saying the same things 100 times without adding anything constructive i'm forced to tell them they're driving all the forum's nuts.

I do contract work and other sorts of miscellaneous freelance. My schedule is mine to make. I can sleep to 11am if I wanted to, as long as my work gets done and I attend whatever meetings are necessary. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I almost never sleep more than 3 hours a night. Haven't in years.

grr another thread started by JIII and another one that looks like it might be closed soon due to bickering. Ohh well maybe I am just a natural at starting arguments.

And yeah I do talk about C4D alot and should probibly use it more. But this is a hobby of mine not repeat not some kind of job.

And everyone else on the "list" is quite a bit better than me anyway. I am the only one who could be accused of posting more than rendering.

Me too cookiepuss. Its the best of all worlds. I have 2 computers here, one rendering and one always displaying a forum. These forums have become my "virtual office" so to speak. I work day and night including weekends during my busy periods.

I definitely spend too much time here--it can be an addiction--but somehow, the work always gets done, I always get to spend time talking to my wife about our day, and my daughter gets to climb all over me whenever she wants--my cats get fed too. Every so often I leave my cave and go see a Star Wars or LOTR movie--then come home frustrated at how far I have to go.

I learn a LOT from these forums and also have developed a strong sense of comeraderie here amongst the many talented and friendly artists here.

There is definitely one or two that tend to rain on the parade from time to time. I just attribute this to low self esteem accompanied by marginal talent and frustration with their career/lives.

Have I hit a thousand yet ? :)

Thanks for your intellectual honesty Cookepuss:beer:
But that reaction you witnesesd is frankly some old animosities
(On some peoples part)
spilling over from character animation debates in the aforementioned "postforum" so its no big deal really.
I love C4DXL and lightwave 3D

Am i a little arrogant ???
yeah!!

but I dont get emotionally attached to software Packages
hunker down in a fever swamped mentality and declare all infidels
"our enemy" like some on the web seem to do.

considering Thirdeye isn't concerned with CA, I think you better learn where those "old animosities" come from. Personally I could care less about how anyone here acts on PF, they are two seperate communities with much different chemistries. I mean thankfully the G5 hype hasn't klep flooding cgtalk like it has PF for example.

Our issues are with your constant jumping in and saying look at how good poser is ( to say you don't have an affinity towards poser or LW over C4D is bull, we could quote you over and over to prove so) As for cutting him slack, wedo, do you see us deleting, or movings his posts, or banning him? Nah, we let him do what he does, cause as pointed out, he's stays on the line as thin as it can often get. Doesn't mean we can't jump in and tell him to ease up stop encouraging flame wars and such.

Man what's going on here? Anabrin is a harmless pussycat compared to some of the twisted psychos who post anonymously on Postforum. Keep the weirdos out by all means, but let's not censor people just because we disagree with them, or don't like their attitude. As the saying goes, a little moderation goes a long way. I think a little diiscent actually helps to spur discussion and thoughtful debate.

It's interesting that Leigh has exactly 2100 posts more than proton (as of this writing), also JIII you have kicked Erliaz into 10th place now...

I never knew that function was there... I think this means I'm starting to spend TOO much time in here ;) But I actually spend my working hours in here (when I should be working). I think it would take years to get that many posts for me though. Unless I just started going into alot of posts and saying "You rock!!!:applause: " a few hundred times.

Could i see some of those CG talk quotes please???
as far a my " affinity" for poser over C4DXl and Lightwave
your just wrong:scream:
sure i use animated Zygote poser humans for my Cinema scenes
via the free plugin that imports them direclty.

but whenever i mention this collaboration some individuals,
(and you know who you are)
feel the need to subject me the scorn and ridicule for using somone elses prerigged mannequins
and yet some of the same people apparently have no problem
with the concept of pre rigged Zygote "humans to go "offered by MAXON

but back to C4DXL

Can somone tell me how to do this type of sketch shading with SLA???

As for the sketch shder, I"m trying to find a link to Rui's renders, but even shades of Cel presets do the same basic thing, drop the gradients in the hatching one and use very large noises.

Hey JIII that shows that you help, post often and past to much time in here lol (just kidding). You past the time like you want. Anyone here use the MIB 36 hours for a day? :) .

After reading the complete thread i see that we have colour full user here. I don't even know all of you.

But like i already said its how you use it that make any software great.

Anyway back again to the subject, for me since its summer and been using (more learning) C4D on and off for 2 months, i don't do alot of projects to beautiful outside so my post count aren't that high.

Thats really nice Kai!

Did you need to apply the shader to each object and adjust?
I kinda like the idea of a post effect that wouldn't alter the original realistic shading of the scene.

Have you looked at Synthetik's Studio Artist? I didcovered it recently and it looks like it has a lot of flexibility.

Since its somewhat pertinent, here is a link to a site with some free shaders, one being a "paint shader"

http://home.arcor.de/patrix666bia/download.htm

Here is an example of the paint shader from Anders Kjellbergs site:
