IMDB lists the budget at $120 million. Sounds about right, but I don't know how accurate IMDB's budget listings are.

From what I gathered, they spent $150 million doing it and have received $100 milion in US ticket sales.

Yes, I´m pretty sure they´ll break even easily enough, but not with a margin confortable enough to guarantee that producers will risk their dough in a sequel.

out of the 120 - 150 million spent on the movie how much of that went to ILM for the visual effects?

Don't forget about all the additional costs, like marketing, distribution, etc.
With that kinda fall off it is unlikely the film will show the profits which warrent a sequel.

You guys have never seen the line production reports of a movie I take it?
This movie will easily make its money back. Before and After movie marketing generators are still cranking away. Are we talking making your retirement off this film as a producer/director/etc... no, but easily make its investment money and a very nice seed for a sequel.
You have to realize that movies are not made/broken at the box office alone, and that longevity in hollywood (or now anywhere else on the planet) is the key to fiscal success.

Here's the LOWDOWN (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=hulk.htm).
I still dont' understand how people speculated that this was gonna be the biggest movie of teh summer and possibly of all time....
Numbers are already agreeing with my disbelief. I mean between matrix, x2, nemo and lotr, how was hulk supposed to sweep boxoffice?

I saw it this weekend, I liked it.
I don't think it was on par with the other Marvel movies, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. I thought it was a fun movie, with some amazing displays of strength and power!

Post traumatic stress disorder is making it hard for me to recall all the details of that film, but I have vague flashes of the most boring piece of monkey garbage that's ever been splattered on the screen.
I personally wish I hadn't paid for a ticket, because every extra dolar that's heads towards universal just increases the likelihood of more bad films in the future.
And if anybody tries to argue that it wasn't too bad, I'll just assume you've got extremely low standards.
I read an article about a guy who saw Ang Lee standing outside the editing room just before the film was wrapped. Apparently he had his hand on his face for about five minutes, and he was staring at the wall like he'd just seen a ghost.
Now we know why.
And if you're reading this Ang - I just wanted to praise you. You killed the Hulk.

Hey PokeChop the funiest thing I heard today....well actually read..."I need a girl whose name doesn't end with .jpg"
Hehehe! good one.
An elephant and a camel meet at the zoo...the elephant tells the camel:
Elephant: hey you, hahaha you've got your tits on your back.
Camel: It surprises me you making such a comment...having your penis on your face.
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

i thought the hulk was great. it had a lot of what made the comic great: drama, angst, and RAGE.
my only real problem with the movie was that i feel mr. bana was maybe not the greatest choice for the role. not that he was bad. just think there could have been better.
that movie depicted what real life would be like if hulk was real. he dropped crap and fell down and got tired. he showed real pain. lots of cg "actors" are perfect. their every movement is exactly where it shoule be, but this lack of mistaken movement and lack of real emotion (like when hulk tore the turret off the tank and accidently deflected the shot, but it still made him grip his chest and wince) = lack of realism.
i don't think that everyone should like the movie, because there's always other comic movies out there... batman with nipples and neon everywhere, superman (great acting and nothing else), captain america with rubber ears... you're probably looking for your blockbuster card right now ;)

"There's a lack of depth" among films, with big openings followed by big drops, said industry analyst Paul Dergerabedian at box office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations.
There were some other trouble spots at the box office. "The Hulk" slipped to No. 2 with $18.4 million in its second weekend, losing a stunning 70 percent of its audience, one of the steepest slides in recent memory. That's amazing! I wonder why this happened? These were films of the century.
"Ahem' uh, could you like scratch my name from the credits? I don't want anyone to know that I was a part of that stuff."- a possible quote from some hollywood production person.

just a note, from week 2 to week 3 hulk lost 56% more. The weather improved, and the box office total goes down. not a terribly big surprise since at least out east, we have been having rain every other day since march.

This film seems to be getting a 50/50 like it/hate it response.
On that basis, I'll wait for the DVD so if the film is shit, I can always check out the DVD extras:drool:
