wedge 05-03-2002, 07:16 PM If I have a large rectangular texture map that is properly stretched to wrap on a sphere, what is the best way to get this wrapped properly onto a sphere? I have a sky map, and it is rectangular, but meant for a sphere...

depends
if it's a nurbs sphere, just put a file texture onto the color and search for your map (voila).
if it's a standard poly sphere, i guess the uv coordinates for this are almost setup as it's like for the nurbs)
if you modelled the sphere (for whatever reason) put a spherical projection onto the color. you can do this by choosing projection in the create render node window if you click on one of the map buttons (the little tiny checker things) then select your projection and set it to sphere and fit it to your object.
