View Full Version : I want to start modeling
aNdReWmAn 02-03-2009, 03:05 AM Does anyone have some good modeling tuts to start off with?
I have purchased 3dsMax 4 days ago, and have been doing some basic tutorials on the tools and how to create simple objects, but I want to start modeling.
Does anyone have any good tuts to post? Like "How to model _____ "
Or any good sites worth checking out for tutorials?
Thank you so much.
And if you dont have any good tuts to post, can you please explain what I should start out modeling? What objects are good for a beginner who wants to learn ASAP.

Well I'm just starting out in 3ds max and the best way to start is simply to go through the tutorials supplied with max and when you've done them,do them again then just start playing with the settings see what happens when increase this or decrease that .the only way to learn is to get your hands dirty.
good luck and happy 3ding..

Hey Andrew
I actually just finished doing a modeling tutorial for beginners, it's the first video in a series of prop modeling tutorials I'm doing for noobs. It covers modeling, UVMapping and texturing a table in 3dsmax 9. It's a little long because I was trying to go slow and really explain the process in detail. It's broken into two parts. The first covers modeling and mapping, and the second covers texturing and rendering.

Hope it helps you out

There are many great web communities you refer to such as CG Architect, Evermotion, the AREA. I would suggest to do the tutorials that come with max to start out with. Then depending on what direction you would like to go (for example: architectrual renderings) find and join some online communities and starting doing tuts. Its all a matter of just doing it! Countless hours and allnighters of playing around and making mistakes. You can always buy some great training DVDs from places such as Gnomon too. Hope this helps.
