View Full Version : Did you se colour pencils?
Leionaaad 02-02-2009, 12:25 PM I know colour pencils are used mostly in kindergarten, but I had the chance to see some excelent drawings. I just love the vibrant image they produce
Thing is, I couldn't use them successfully. I don't have control over the final color and the texture of the paper is visible everywhere, no matter what I do.
Any advice?

It's actually possible to do color pencil so that it looks very smooth--almost like carefully blended oil paint. There are hard and soft lead color pencils, and the soft ones (like the famous Berol Prismacolor ones) can be blended very well directly on paper. You can also melt them using turpentine (just dip with brush and paint the turpentine onto the area you've laid down color pencil parts).
