How do i make a light bulb look like its actually bright?

Most of the time this is done with a render effect like glow, that and some self illumination should do the trick. I also assume that you have set up some lights inside for the actuall lighting effect.

Thanks murf... yea i was assuming I had to use glow as much as i didnt want to... i'm not good with it...
