Title: Xava: Mischief.
Name: Tiziano Baracchi
Country: Italy
Software: Painter, Photoshop

I'd been thinking for a while about painting a series of pieces about the tribe of my 'Elven Scout', they are the Xava, live in the tropical forests covering a great part of their world, decorate themselves with natural paints and jewels made of stones and seeds, wear little more than loincloths of tanned leather and hunt with weapons of hard wood and flint.
Every now and then they discover mysterious ruins in the jungle, the places of those who went before, there, at times, beautiful pieces of metal and other things can be harvested.

Here is Elven Scout's little sister with a couple of friends...

Wow...Tiziano, were do I begin?? This is Amazing. High marks for the composition alone. the knowledge of the human form in perspective outstanding! The coulour of the skin, the light of the piece perfect. The expression on her face, priceless. I have always been a fan of your works since I first seen them here. But this knock it out the park for me. Fantastico.
Well DONE! 5 stars from me.

Wow, very nice composition. I love the values and shadows on the woman's skin tones. The green-tinted cast shadow on the back is a great touch. You obviously know how to work with skin tones very well. Well done. Her eyes are very expressive and I can see the green in them. That's hard to do when we can't see the picture in a larger format. The monkeys fit into the environment and doesn't look like they're in a separate plane or environment from her. They're very well rendered, especially the fur. Great work on the background trees and the ruins she's on. The large branch on the upper left above the woman's head looks a little flat as you come back near the trunk of the tree. It may be because the grained wood texture isn't hard to see, but there isn't enough value to show the trunk's volume and shape. The part with the light contrasting around it is nice though. Beyond that, excellent work. I love this piece.

Samuraikuroi :Thank you very much, my friend! That is extremely high praise and a big reason to keep working and improving.

Coyotes: mille grazie my friend, I hoped you'd like this girl :)

cristalrc : Muchas gracias! I think hands are very important in a portrait, and need special attention :)

linainverse23 thank you for the very precise, point-by-point comment. :) I see what you mean about the tree branch, I'll check it out on the original file to see if it's a matter of compression (the original is 5787 X 4093 px at 350 dpi), if it isn't I'll touch it up as needed.

Karisa :)thank you very much! I've worked hard (and I'm still working) on my way to paint skin, it's really good to know that it's starting to get were I mean it to be, hands are another pet peeve of mine, IMO they do a whole lot for the mood and the expression...

Thanaban: Thank you very much! :)

ianruff Thank you very much for your appreciation, and also the network request. :)

Hi, Tiziano!
Up to date this one is my favourite of your pieces. Beautiful anatomy and perspective. I love the shading and the colours you've given her: the game of warm oranges of the front of her skin and the cold greens of the back create a wonderful soft contrast.
Congratulations!

Outstanding composition, expression, lighting, everything. Yep, you nailed this one. A runthrough of your techniques would be beneficial to us all if you ever get the chance. Superb! My favorite on CGTalk

Ilya: thank you very much! I'm trying to push the envelope a bit in my latest pieces, knowing what works and on which level is a great feed-back and great encouragement to keep working hard.

Joe: thank you a lot! Being always on the prowl for interesting tutorials to learn from, it feels a bit strange, in a very good way, to be asked for a runthrough. :)
One, however, will be made (with work-in-progress images) as soon as I'm free from my latest deadline (guess it will be ready by mid-March).

I think it's just about perfect. The changes in the skin tones between light and shadow are magical. An inspiration.
