i was wondering what was the FBX plugin?

I am very confused. Isn't this the software being sold for $100 on 3Dbuzz.com? I ordered it two days ago..

Please don't tell me i wasted $140

Also, just another thing i was wondering, will i actually not be able to access motionbuilder after the year is up? Or will i still be able to use it, but not commercially?

Yes, this is the same program from 3DBuzz, I think there was another thread about this. There it was said that the upgrade will be another $100. No sure what happens after the one year. Good luck.

Sorry, I was just reporting what dvGarage said in their newsletter, but they got it wrong. Kaydara is only giving away one copy, lottery-style, for people who fill out their survey.

so let me get this straight first I download it then I get to see if it works.

Why can't they just tell me if I win or not.

Here is what i did...fill out survey..hit summit button...go to new page... choose pc or mac...go to new page and download MB and a plugin if you want.

Install MB and when finished you click on new icon on desktop to run for the first time and you will see a new form to get to key.Fill out form and choose how to register..the email option didn't work for me...i registered by web...and within a few minutes i recieved the key.

Hmm, it would seem that Kaydara is incapable of writing a straightforward statement. Anyways, I guess this is the same version that was available on the Digit CD--and that will be on next month's 3DWorld CD. IOW, it will cost $200 to upgrade to v.5.

No - you didn´t - and you´ll get the printed manual and the VTM´s from Buzz.
Download the clipart CD from Buzz and you got all you need to get started with MB. You´ll find it in the download section of 3DBuzz -> VTM´s -> MB -> VTM 2.

I'm a little confused though. It's the PLE right? Are there any limitations apart from not being able to use your work commercially? Usually with PLE versions there’s something missing or there's a watermark on a rendered image but there doesn't seem to be anything like that.

Don’t get me wrong though, I'm not complaining. :)

I don't know if the currently offered version is comercial or not. But after you pay your 200 you deffinitely should get a comercial liscence.

The only limitation is that you can't use the PLE edition as an employee of a corporation. It can be used for commercial work, but only if you are doing the work on a freelance basis. Otherwise the product is the same as the full version.

The upgrade path is to MB 5 Standard Edition, which differes from MB 5 Pro edition in that you can't work with raw mocap data. But you can still work with .bvh files in the Standard Edition.

I would send them another e-mail (or 10!) to make sure you get your serial. Sounds like something's amiss, as it normally seems to take 24 hrs. or less.

grr, I have no email to send anything to. I choose the web registration option which does not give you an email to send it too. Ohh well hope for the best.

All you should have to do is check your e-mail and the key should be sent to you in a few minutes. Did you give them a real e-mail address when you filled out the survey?

Of course I did, I just hope I did not mispell it or something because that would be bad. Anyway I have found an email address, with which I can contact them about liscencing. Having just sent them an email, I am hoping to hear back from them soon.

Everything evens out in the end :)
While I got MB for free for a year,and you paid 100 for a year,
you get to upgrade it for another $100,
while the upgrade path from the free one (digit mag and this download) is $200.
Then add the fact that you also get the PRINTED freakin manuals,
with me not even getting a PDF,and the deal doesn't sound that bad,does it? :buttrock:

As for the lottery part,I always thought that they were giving out a perm license to one of the downloaders...
Oh,and JIII,when registering,have you tried both options?
I've still not even gotten a confirmation email on the original survey,
and I had to try both web and email reg a couple times before it actually worked.

dont select online registration, select email to them. Then you will get an auto response with the key. Well thats what i did :shrug:
