Title: Night-Life - Downtown.
Name: Waheed Nasir.
Country: Pakistan
Software: ArtRage, Photoshop

greetings...:), "Night-life - Downtown", i went to capture a simple street scene at night, in the downtown area and this is the most common site to experience, at most places. for initial layouting/sketching i did consult/looked at few refs for shops etc. and couple of figures too. painted in artrage and photoshop, tablet.
few areas were even sketched from life during the stetching phase and some were visualized. a great piece for me to work on...:).

thanks for looking in.

best.

love it. Great color pallette, vibrant and full of life. I love the atmosphere of the piece, and i like the choice in technique as it roughs up with more broad brushstrokes as you get away from the focal group.

My only... drawback is that area by the dog, for whatever reason that area is distracting for me, maybe its the size of the dark car to the left that isn't being balanced by anything compositionally. However that may entirely be a preference thing. You could add something like a silouetted figure closer to the camera about to cross the street, or one of those time exposed drive by's where a car is already half out of the composition, but i still think it needs something.

Love it!

thanks a lot somu01 and peteywaz, for admiring it...:).

peteywaz, i know what u mean and really appreciate the input...:), i did take care of that area by having that street light pole and the window. i wanted to keep that area very less busy so the eye doesnt stay there figuring out anything and get back to the main part. but i do see your point too and i do agree with the "preference thing", that uve mentioned. thank you mate...:).

good day.

this is fantastic. i'm absolutely taken by this picture
it's so alive and full of realism it's almost like i'm standing there

your best piece by far in my opinion. put away the still life for a while and do more of this
love at first sight = 5*!

First i thought some parts of the wall need more detail like the part on the right side, but after 2 seconds i realized it`s just perfect this way.

I want to go to this place to buy some fruits, now!

And after my return home i would like to see this one in the Award Gallery.
* * * * * stars for sure!

Very nice. Your work always surprises and impresses me. I adore how you use the different brush types and textures to make this piece come together. The layering, composition, execution, and color scheme are all great. My only comment would be the blue car. I think I little more dark lining around the window edge might help keep it from fusing color wise with the body of the car.

Other than that, I love this piece. The two guys near the wall with the bike behind them is my favority part. The look, color, and especially the textures are just right. How you rendered the lamp post and the lighting is also very well done. The dog looks cute and inquisitive. Even the blocky brushwork of the upstairs building walls work well.

You seem to have this gift to know just how much to add without making it too busy. Once again, I love your work and I look forward to your next piece. "Nature-sprinkled" was awesome, and this one can hold its head up high next to it. Great job.
