Title: Hephaistos Saves Achilles From Skamandros
Name: Ertaç Altinöz
Country: Turkey
Software: Photoshop

This is my entry for CGTalk-Steampunk Legends&Myths Challenge.

MY INITIAL POINT:
My myth is about Hephaistos.
As you well know Hephaistos was the great Olympian god of fire, metalworking, stonemasonry and the art of sculpture. He was usually depicted as a bearded man holding hammer and tongs--the tools of a smith--and riding a donkey.

According to myth, Hephaistos saves Achilles from the mighty river,Skamandros. Skamandros (or Scamander) was a River-God of the Troad, in Mysia, Anatolia (modern Turkey). The River Skamandros was the largest river of the plain of Troy. Its headwaters were in the foothills of Mount Ida, and its mouth near the entrance to the Hellespont.

CONCEPT:
My Hephaistos is attached to a long legged machine, because Hephaistos has lame legs, as you know. I tried to create some irony.
He is vacuming the steam with his right leg and pouring waste out from his left leg. He uses steam to produce fire, and as long as water near he is able to burn. The symbols on his flamethrowers(hammers) are representing this "forever" meaning.
I used Photoshop CS2 and UC-Logic LaPazz WP5540 A6 Graphic Tablet while working. And it took me nearly three weeks to finish.

STORY:
You can reach whole story (18th post) on my work in progress thread here at:

Pretty please, do not hesitate to share what you think. I really need your advices to improve my works.

It was great to be with all of you and watching you while creating. I really did enjoy to be here.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you like my image.

Best
