View Full Version : Render Settings Question?
fretshredder 06-28-2003, 07:29 AM I am wondering something. I have my render setting set up the way I like 'em for a scene I am working on. I have advanced renderer, and the scene I am working on includes a pyrocluster. Now, when I render the view it looks fine (but doesn't save out a file). But when I render it to the picture viewer (with what I assume are the same render settings) the pyrocluster looks FOOBAR (i.e. mainly no volumetrics and looks sickly at best).
Is there something I am missing here as to why two different types of renders using the same settings are different?
thanks all

Are you rendering the same frame in the picture viewer as in the viewport. Is it a still or animation?
What are your rendersettings?

Yes - rendering the same frame in both. Since I am using a pyrocluster the scene is an animation, but I am only concerned with rendering out a single frame.
The attached file is only an illustration of the problem. It isnt my actual scene, but exhibits the same problem.
Render settings:
General:
Antialiasing = Geometry
Filter = still img
reflection = all objs
transparency = with refraction
shadow = all objects
Output:
frame: current frame
multipass rendering enabled
I think that is about all of the pertinent settings. :drool:

Well i am rendering the same thing right now. I finished making a pyrocluster to look good in viewport render and waiting on the picture view render to show its results.
Since i have radiosity it will take a while but i will get back to you when its done.

Looks like you are rendering different frames. Your viewport render is a render of the current frame in the timeline (let's just say frmae 45). You should go to render settings -> Output and set 'frame' to the same framenumber. (Ie. 45 to 45 instead of 0 to 0).

make sure your birthrate editor and birthrate renderer are the same level;)

I think Cyborgguineapig hit the nail on the head!
My render with pyrocluster turned out the same as in the viewport render. Check out my gallery link below for the result.

Yay!!! I would like to say thank you to alll that got me on the right track with this one. So I say, "Thank you!!"
Turns out that Cyborgguineapig was in fact right on the money. I did have different values for the birthrate editor and birthrate renderer (stupid me). In my defense I *thought* they were the same.... heheheh
Thanks again all :applause:
