View Full Version : how to compile a plugin

Hi, I have no idea of programming. I need to compile this:

shadowMatteShader.cpp
shadowMatteShader.sln
shadowMatteShader.vcproj

found in this folder: C:\Archivos de programa\Autodesk\Maya8.5\devkit\plug-ins

Sorry for my ignorance, I just need that plugin, is there a software included in Maya to compile the plugin, or do I have to download one? ... I need serious help with this.

1. download Visual C++ http://www.microsoft.com/express/vc/
2. Install
3. Dbl Click the *.sln file which will open VC.
4. Change the drop down menu item at the top of VC that says "Debug" to "Release".
5. From the build menu, select Build Solution.
6. It'll either work perfectly, or you'll need to do a tiny bit of fiddling at this point.

If you're going to use the Express version you will need to install the Platform SDK as well.
