im new to modeling, about 3 month ago i started with 3ds max, i did some tutorials from digital tutor (the introduction+basic modeling swis knife)

and now after i had a little experience with 3D i have some questions before i start modeling

what is the best software for props modeling?
i want to start in props modeling but in general i want to go through all the (or many as i can) types of modeling before i find my main modeling area
what more conmftable for modeling maya or max ?
and from the less famous(zbrush, modo, lightwave)?

There is no such thing as the best or most comfortable modeling programm. You have to try them and find out what suits you best.

I would suggest Lightwave if you're just starting out. Lightwave is about as basic as you can get into Modeling. It doesn't overload you with icons, and is less intimidating. Even though it isn't an industry standard, it's still a wonderful 3D application that is used a lot in Hollywood. I'd give that a shot. :)

I started with Max too and I'm very happy with it. Some people say Max is the best for modeling, as it has the best modeling tools. But if you're interested in animation, then some people say Maya is best.

But I dunno, I think they're all much the same. So if you're comfortable with Max and you like the software, then I say stick with it.

As for learning how to model, you're on the right track, do every Max tutorial you can find, but start simple, do the beginner tutorials and model all the easy stuff first, even if it is boring.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey :)

Hey Zipman, I was looking through some tutorials today and I came across this one 'Box modeling a car for beginners': http://en.367art.com/final.asp?id=1593

As soon as I saw it, I thought of you *grin*. It might still be a little too advanced for an absolute beginner, but I think you'll be able to tackle it in no time.

Keep practising and happy modeling :)
