Hi I dont ask for much around here but I need to know how to model a threaded bottle just the part where the cap screws onto I've done it before but that was a long time igo and I forgot how.

Please Help!!!! :blush:

I did something like this a long time ago. I think I used path extrude or something like that. Rail extrude. It was in version 5... I've forgetten alot since then.

you can lathe it and offset it but you gotta think about the start thread and the end thread thats where i'm having the problem i want it to look nice and smooth for the close up

Well, start with a helix.
Squish the helix down
Create a 6 or 8 sided circle
Rail Extrude
Remove inside (what would be inside the bottleneck) polys
Extend the points up and down between the threads to form the flat part
Array up to the lip

well the jd bottle tut is cool but i need more threads and this is what i have so far

how did you get the render like that? is it done with ps?

it's 2 print screens one has the wireframe over the other with a mask on it in photoshop

there are some places where i dont like how the polys connect

Start with building a really small section of the screw, then use the clone tool to build the rest of the segments. That's what I did when I had to make a drill hole. ;)
