View Full Version : MR Matte shadow reflection shader

i just discovered that max2009 has a very usuful mr shader which is called"matte shadow reflection"
it can not only receive shadows but also could be used for camera projection.
So i realy want to use this shader in maya ,but maya has no it actually .
Is there anybody knows how to achieve the effect of this shader or use other tools to simulate ?

I'm guessing you mean an equivalent for Maya Software. If that is the case, then you can use the use background shader to catch shadows and/or reflections.
-oops sorry I think you may mean Mental Ray in Maya, forgot you mentioned Max. In that case there are the mental ray production shaders that has that shader also. I haven't tinkered in Maya 2k9 but in Maya 2008 you had to 'unhide' those shaders.

yes ,you said right,i only know how to unhide mr shaders in max but the written of mr shader has a large diffrence between maya and max so i don't know how to unhide it.
i expect that more person will notice this question and find a way to solve it.

For some reason, I was thinking that the production shaders were not hidden in Maya 2009, but here is a thread that talks about unlocking them for 2008.

can i get a direct link to the .mel, i can get it to work for 2008 but not 2009!
