This is an illustration made for fun
I used Photoshop and ArtRage to create this illustration.

Good job, nice colour variation and mood, :) post more!

For the watter if it is watter or even mud (muddy watter maybe), you could jsut quickly suggest some reflections, of nearby objects, and some sharp bright highlight where the watter might catch a reflection from a bright gap in the branches. I won't mind seeing some life suggested in there also, like a bird silhouette on branch or snake hanging out of somewhere, something like small easter egg or reward that the viewer can find in there if he looks hard enough.
