Hi mihkeltt,
just tested now, 1970 works, and like Spearhead, sun 'exist' starting from 1700 (it was really cold in earth before, wow, lol ;)) and the limit in the future is 2199.
Enventually is the Latitude and Longitude wrong ?
Tested on Mac OSX 10.2.6/C4D 8.1

Why this question?

Actually the coordinates of the sun are not the same from one year to another. i donīt know the accuracy of the c4d sun but since there is a a calendar this must have been maxons idea.
Maybe a maxon official who sees this could give a proper answer?
