Looks really cool - like a great painting. I'm interested to know how much 3d vs photoshop. Really nice work - would make a great comic cover. Show it to Marvel - they might wanna use it!
The character was build in Maya, basically textured (only colors). Then, i added lights. Rendered a 2 or 3k picture.
In photoshop, i correct skinning artifacts first, and finally, i add details and textures.
Watch the close-up to have a better idea.
wireframe! wireframe! we want the wireframe!
well... i don't have the wireframe from this particular image.
But you can see the mesh anyway ;)
each time i post here, i forget how to tag my links so they directly shows here... can anyone here refresh my sick head?

Excellent model, composition, choice of colors!...
.... and french touch!
merci à toi, ami Belge :)
some more pictures and compositions as soon as possible. Page under construction right now.

but in the wireframes...I noticed his upper body is very well defined, though his leggs aren't...maybe you could add some more detail to his leggs to make it more one unit...
also the details on his chest apear kinda weird to me...on the renders, it comes off really well...but again, on the wireframe...it's a bit strange to me...

Very impressive work. Reminds me of the artwork in Spectrum.:D
I cannot find anything to critique in the artwork at all.

Taoizm and I were just talking about the closup of the face and both agreed on how cool the NPR is.
What technique did you use?
excuse my english... what do you mean by "NPR" ?
After the rendering, and corrections done, i add roughly textures in photoshop.
Then, i pick colours and i "kinda" drybrush the picture.
For the face, i added more layers, and finally, there's not a lot of the original 3d rendering left ;)
For this one, i had a picture of Alex Ross in mind, in the way he works on lights.

Very cool, and incredibly detailed, especially the wrinkles in his suit on the upper body. However, I do have one crit. His ass looks kind of funny. :p

Some inspiring stuff! Keep up the great work!
here is a new link where you can get the picture, some crops, and 2 other pictures of my Daredevil stuff.

wow!!! i know that u made that mesh for this, so that is why those legs are not so perfect. Thos wringles are great!!!
I love that image (even i don't love Dare Devil so much)
your Dare Devil looks kinda heavy and really "touch me and u're dead":scream:
really i love it!!!!
just to say that i'm actually working back on my Daredevil character. Refining stuff...
Hope i'll be able to show you something soon.
This time, i'll try it "full maya", to see what it can look like, spending a bit more time than usual fixing details directly in the 3d package.
This is no longer the way i work like, but i feel like proving you i can do something else. no agressivity here be assured.
comments are still welcome ;)

Thanks my good old friend
Glad to see you here.
I'll have a look at Marvel Website one more time, to see if i can show it to people there.
Thanks to the people here who enjoyed this (and the other) picture of Daredevil.
It's a bit shy

That's just simply amazing, it's so inline with the style you see on backcovers of comicbooks e.g. Spawn. I always wondered how they made those images, cause it has a certain realism to it that I couldn't imagine it could be photoshopped based on something other than a real still picture. Respect!

I could not beleive that this is 3D, but you mixed very well the 3D and 2D. Great job!
It's a nice render, but in terms of the character himself some proportions are off.
His arms are too long, they would be touching his knees, when they're suppose to be midway between hip and knees.

Man, this is really amazing, the illustrations are gorgeous, it doesn`t matter it`s an hybrid between 3d and 2d texturing, this is the kind of cg stuff i like more...and well....after all you`re right : Sienkiewicz rules!

Hi in there
Glad you liked.
I don't know if you had time to see the other pictures.
So i include this one directly.
Eklettica: thanks, i'm glad you liked. Didn't react on your pict but you're on the frontpage since a while now ;)
Went on your website. I really like your "make my day" pict + a few more. But the "Make my day is excellent"!!!

Really nice model Loic, you managed to get the Marvel's graphic touch in your model perfectly.. I really like the way the light reacts to the surface.. nice details on the clothes too.. not much to say, bravo beau boulot!

Nothing to crit.
Great model and composition work. I really love Simon Bisley´s material and your work smells similar.
Five star for you
This is some very good looking art.

Good Work on the modelling and the post prod on photoshop, hte atmosphere of your pictures is excellent!
07-04-2003, 12:37 PM
good job e338.
all of these postworks, all the layers of textures and dirts they give your image a style that i like. the mood.
now i'm curious to see if you were able to bring that mood without postworking. mmm must takes a lot of lighting work...
i like style:cool:
Those comments will give me the energy to work on some new stuff.
I started this "trip" with Amon 1.5year ago. He was my first 3d character for illustration purpose.
Now, i've done about 15 illustrations designed for poster size prints, and i'd like to make 10 to 15 more before october, for an exhibition attempt.
I'll keep you in touch with my forthcoming work, for sure.
blasphemy3_d, thanks. Simon Bisley? i heard S.Bisley's name? Yeah. one real reference for style and anatomy liberties. Have seen your website too.
First time i saw your barbarian i thought "eh! some Bisley Fan?!?" because of the strokes on the eyes ;)
and there is also this good old ED209!!! mmmm.
a beer one time, if i go to Spain...
Pascal, thanks & respect. And take a rest for Christ Sake!!!
