View Full Version : Rendering Question.
PiksalDesign 06-26-2003, 05:59 PM Are there different rendering methods?
I heard that you can add on different types of rendering to winds or any other 3d program. Here is a link to a good render made in winds.

Attached is a picture of my render made in winds with the default rendering option. Its on best quality:
Again, Im sooooo new to this. I know this sounds stupid. lol

You can render with yafray from within Wings...
First you'll need to download yafray from http://www.coala.uniovi.es/~jandro/noname/,
and then enable the plugin dialogs from the edit->plugin prefs->yafray menu entry in wings.
after that you should have a new entry under file->render called yafray :)
Then just set up the scene the way you like,(remember to add lights),
and then hit file->render->yafray,and you should get a pic showing up after a while.
You can also click the little square next to yafray in the menu to get to the settings.
Good luck!

after that you should have a new entry under file->render called yafray "
But i dont get the new option under file) render,

Yep PiksalDesign !! After have download the Yafray and installed it, is necessary to add the path into autoexec.bat (if win 98) or into system variable (if win 2000 or xp) !!
Restart the computer and voila', into render options have yafray !
(it is possible render with yafray directely into wings3d) !
Hope that is helpful !!!

Here is a screen view for windows XP and win 2K is similar enough to use same thing.
http://www.byjason.com/log/archive/pathsetup.gif
1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties. This pops open the big System Properties window.
2. On the bottom of the advanced tab you will then click on Environment Variables. This pops open Environmental Variables window
3. This is the Path Variable for your account in WIndows. Select it and click the edit button below this view. If you do not find it click new.
4. This is for the whole system so any changes here affect all users. You can use this instead if you wish, but don't use both. I recomend using #3 instead.
5. As you can see the top slot is the name of the variable. If you clicked "new" type in "Path" as you see in the image.
In the variable slot the easiest way to enter the path value is to put it before any other paths. Type in the following exactly:
C:\yafray;
The text case does not matter. The semicolon will not affect anything if the yafray path statement is the only one in the value slot.
hit okay all the way back out to the desktop.
Yafray should now automatically show up in Wings 3D. If not you may need to restart first.
Hope this clears things up.
