Hi everyone, here is a concept that I started for the steampunk challenge and is yet to be finished, originally the concept was a sketch study based upon my current project www.chisham69.blogspot.com and rehashed for the steampunk challenge.

Now that the challenge is over I will continue with this as my own personal project.
Await C+C.....will start posting updates this weekend.

Not to worry, chisham69, some people just don't know how to report threads they question, so they accuse them of spam on the boards...

Nice blog, BTW.

Your values are too flat to really say much about this. The contrast is so low as to be blah within the detailed areas. There is nothing to grab the eye's attention, nor effectively move it around the picture plane. What is your main focal point, here?

You should be thinking BIG at this stage, and establishing your shapes and your overall image, then start obsessively detailing everything. It helps keep your values in perspective.

This way, you've overworked some parts, with SO much empty white space, you cannot clearly see areas that need attention.

Try to bring the overall image into a bit better consistency.

CybrGx....

thanks for the c+c...

yes i agree...the values are flat and a bit bland. I will continue working up the entire 'piece' and make the actual 'tractor' itself as the main focal point....will continue blocking in all the main shapes and 'beef' up the 'values'......

also can anyone tell me how to upload images or insert images onto this thread, instead of
using the 'manage attachments' option as it has a limit of 100kb..... anyone!

thanks CybrGX.....

The short way is to upload your image to your blog, then navigate to the site. Open up a second instance of IE, and reply to this thread. Go to the image, click and drag down to the taskbar over the second IE, and when it pops up move the mouse up into the reply window and let go the mouse button. It took me 10 times as long to type this as it did to post your photo !! :scream:

p.s. resize your photos to 800pix wide before you do this..
