View Full Version : C4D core app
fletchman 06-26-2003, 04:43 PM Hi Folks,
I am considering buying the core app without modules ( as I am strapped for cash). Is there a particle system in the core app? Thanks :buttrock:

log onto maxon's home page, you'll see all the bits you'll get there :)

Hi Strat,
Surfed till my eyes popped. No mention in the core app of any kind of particle system. I was thinking of getting Pyro Cluster and using it if it already has a default particle emitter. :wavey:

There's a basic particle system (the same you had in R7), consider that you can add Thinking Particles in the future if you need more power :)

There is a particle system in the core app as Thirdeye_01 said. But if you are cash strapped so that Thinking Particles is out of the question, you could program your own partilcle generator......:)
I found the basic particle system rather limiting for my needs as a motion graphics designer, and I love Thinking particles flexibility. I woulod suggest getting the XL bundle even if you can't really afford it, as you will pay more if buy the modules seperately.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your quick and helpful replies. I have considered the XL bundle but is way off my budget. Just like any other app, I would just buy what plug-ins I need in stages based on how well I get to know the application. Even when I got the other 3d app(no mention of name) I found that the core app needed to be suplemented with plug-ins. I will have to live with just buying stuff in stages (no matter how much more in the long run it will cost).
Thanks again guys. :applause:

just buy version 7 from Maxon for $395 and get the upgrade to 8 for $495 :) not sure how long you have before you need to upgrade to 8 but i think that will never end

my advice is speak to maxon about competitive upgrade to xl....
they are very friendly and helpful.
there is also a student version if you fall into that category.
thinking particles is very cool...you will not be disappointed....not sure about pyrocluster though...
ps. when i started i got a free version on magazine v5(100 odd pounds upgrade to 6)...then paid for upgrade to v7 and now v8. its only now in 8 that i feel slightly more comfortable and really get the concept of power from the system..that said if you can't afford it...you can't afford it...it might be worth trying the demo is that has thinking particles...or getting documentation/tuts from maxon website and seeing if you need or want it.

If you go for the basic particle emitter, make sure you download TDEM (www.remotion.de.vu). This is an awsome plugin that makes the standard particle system much more powerfull.
Hi,
The standard particle system available in the base version of Cinema4D is somehow limited, as everyone already mentioned.
However, it is also much faster and easier to learn it than TP, which is tremendously complex!
As rirad said, make sure you download TDEM, and awesome plugin that expands the standard particle system's power a whole lot!
Another very good plugin for the standard particle system is Fizz.

Hiya,
I first got a taste for Cinema 4D way back in 1994 on the Amiga 1200 on a free Amiga Format coverdisk.
Last year i got the full Cinema 4D 5se free on a PC Format cover disk.
Upgraded to XL 6 last May for £200(which was not sopposed to be up-gradable in an email i got ) but in April this year they gave me a time limited offer to upgrade to Cinema 4D R8.1 XL Bundle for £410 :buttrock:
There was the offer to upgrade to the core R8.1for £210 but thought that would be limiting myself and save money in the long run so i got the XL bundle.
More power than my PC can handle though and i need a bigger monitor and faster PC.
Hopefully you can get a good deal from Maxon then upgrade to the XL Bundle a some point fletchman .
