Excellent design work, and very imaginative. I'm digging all the detailing.
You did say critique was welcome ;), so here goes. The body looks a little flat to me. I think a stronger directional light source with more fall off would help showcase the forms. The materials look a bit similar too. Maybe overlaying some materials and textures from digital photos would help with this, just an idea.
All the best.

FireEyes: thanks, glad u like it!
Hoopy: thanks for the crit, I always appreciate suggestions of how to improve my paintings. I agree that it's looking flat, perhaps because of the backlighting. I like to paint details yet I guess the materials need more texture variety since I just paint everything without using photo textures.

Face is really well done, the expression and i really like the texture. Hey man if you are going to work further on the piece then i would suggest do something about the white glaring background. its too distracting. :)

I agree with phoenix about the white background, a simple environment would open up the 3D space your android occupies, reinforce the prospective , and provide motivation for the light sources.
If you want to sell the white background as back lighting ;), then I'd add strong rim lighting rapping around all the forms. Also your eye would adjust to the strong light, and the android would become almost a silhouette.
