Sorry for the boring subject but I'm learning...
Im trying to texture this properly. Is it the lighting that makes the carpaint look so 'dull'? Or the reflecting image(i have tried others but it doesn't seem to help)...
Any crits appreciated but texturing/lighting tips the most...

If you are using 3DS Max, get Brazil and HDRI plugin.

You won't need Brazil r/s to use the HDRi Bitmap I/O plugin for max, btw.
It should work with any max-native 3rd party renderer, as well as the 3ds max scanline renderer.

I'm using LW so thats not an option. This image is using a hdri BG...
Any other tips...

I don't use lightwave, but this isn't a lightwave issue. Your modeling is great, your materials and environment need work. Paint looks sort of plastic, and the environment is kind of stark. Improving those 2 elements will improve the image quality.
Just a side note, recommending a different renderer isn't a solution. If he was using max, proper use of lighting, materials and environment should be learned, regardless of what renderer you use. I have seen amazing results achieved with scanline.

Littte test with hdri and radiority. No antialias to keep rendertime low(er). Different scene aswell... Its definetly better but to much boing on in the reflections me thinks. Im hoping to achieve sort of studio/carshow lighting... Dont know where its going though...
Should I use any refraction in the windows? They are just single sided polygons right now. Would it bee more reaslistic with 'thick' windows with refraction? (I know i can test myself but just want to get some input...)
