Did someone know if we have the possibility to convert a material in a file (something like a jpg 2000x2000 or more) in 3Dmax5 as we can do it in Maya with the option "convert material in file".
Im not talking about backing texture but convert material...:)

Convert material to what?

Can you describe exactly what Maya does to a material? What is the material before, and what is it after?

When you say 2000x2000 jpg, that sounds a lot like baking a material (lots of settings, particular to one software) into a texture (one image, usable by any software).

No posm, i use backed texture every days in max, and that obsolutly not the same thing.
the backed texture use the uv map as support.

but the "convert material as a jpeg file" in maya, transform a procedural material as an image in the dimensions as you want !
I said 2000x2000 px as i could have say 3500x3500.
it's very interresting to create bump texture in photoshop after, by using two or tree bump images from your 3d software (most to create face textures)

But it seem's not to exist in 3dmax :/ so i don't really know how i will proceed?

If you have i idea...

I do this all the time. I agree, it is a great way to get textures. Here's how to do it in max...

1. Open the Material Editor

2. Navigate to the position in the material tree you want to render. Turn off Show End Result to preview what you will get.

3. Right click on the sample window, choose Render Map.

4. Set options and render.
