View Full Version : New to Everything.
PiksalDesign 06-26-2003, 02:09 AM Hey.
New to the board and 3D design.
Ive downloaded winds3D for a starting point.
Then hope to gradually move up to using
maya and lightwave. Ive always wanted
to learn 3D modeling, so now Im going to start.
I hope you can help me with any questions.
And in time I hope to help as well. Right now,
Im looking for an absolute begining point
to learn the basics of Wings3D. I looked through
the tutorials thread. But thought maybe someone
can point me in another direction. Thanks.

Looks better than my first model
You might want to check your proportions though(?)
I think starting with the tuts is the way to go. Also check out Jason's new manual he is working on (see earlier post).
Also check out some timelapse vids. There are some cool ones from AmbientWhisper done in Mirai that are useful and very inspiring. I also got a lot out of one done by MarkyJerky on modeling an ear.... It is a great look at organic subd modeling with Wings in general. I have these on my hd, but no links. Let me know if you need help locating them.
Have Fun

Good first model!!! I see forward for more more posts!!
Any idea where you found it? It doesn't appear to be in the tutorial thread here, I'll check the official site. If you remember where it came from I'd appreciate it! :o) - Baz

Here is a model of a monitor i did today.
Can anyone tell me whey my renders look odd?
It is on premium quality.
Thanks Fuzatron and Blackthorn!
PiksalDesign, looks to me like you've used the modelling lights, you'll get more natural results if you use scene lights, to add them right click when nothing is selected, they're on the primitives menu. You're not going to get great results with Wings default renderer though, it doesn't do cast shadows for one thing!
