Is there a way to convert an instance of an object to an editable model?

Unfortunately, I don't think you can.

However, you could duplicate the first object, and match all transforms on the instance. It should go directly over it, and then you can whatever modification you need to do.

Hope that helps!

Found a solution for the problem, its already possible with XSI without any further plugins/ scripts. Press ALT + 5 to open netview, then search for 'Instance To Duplicate'. You can convert instances to duplicates of the instances master this way.

Just thought I'd share this with you if anyone ever runs into similar problems.
