I'm trying to render something with Vue7 Xtream with MAYA and Mental Ray but I get wierd illumination with Final Gather (super blochy FG points and never get rid of them even with super hight settings)...

Should I know something or what? (the documentation about MAYA integration doesn't exists).

Thank's for the help.

i am only in vue6 infinite and maya 8.5, but for me it looks like a problem with the render settings of mental ray and final gather, and not vue 7. or do you encounter this artefacts only on vue-objects/elements?

setting the vue-renderer to superhigh was rarely a good solution as long as i know, because it just blows render times to hell, but fixes only a bit of atmospheric noise, if you already get some with standard settings.

i would create a testscene without using vue7, but with the same render and light settings (if possible) in maya and watch out for still existing artefacts.

The problem only appears in the MAYA objects, not in the Vue scene, so my guess is that is a mental ray related error...

I've boost FG samples and MR general quality without any success, the only thing that helped a bit was to short the clipping planes of the camera because Vue just destroys them (setting insane numbers like 1000000000000 for the far clipping plane), but the error doesn't go totally away...

I can make a test scene and send it to you, would you mind to check it in your computer? (I am going to install the xtream update to see if it works).

hmm..did you check on Vue options? and check whether you use the settings for Vue or Maya during rendering. good luck.

Hi there;

I link an image to show you my problem.

I say Vue to render MAYA settings (that's the default).

This is a direct render, with default settings only FG turned ON:

Mmmm, is it showing now?, the image is located in picasa, so it should be visible...

Well, Vue objects is still using it's own render engine. Go to vue atmosphere and change to standard and it should work. Global irradiance, Gi and so on wil give you all these white dots. Don't ask me why...

I've turn atmosphere to standard and the problem persists, at this time this is totally unusable..., Do you use it in 32 or 64 bit?.
