As of today, Puppetshop is available for FREE!

Not just to subscription users, or users of the latest 3dsMax, but for all users, including 3dsMax 8, 9, 2008 and 2009.

You can download the full version on the puppetshop page over at:

what about the Register button, its asking for a key.

just asking, after all its free.

The register button is obsolete.
You can ignore it, or type some random number in there if you want.

When you download Puppetshop and install it, it is the full commercial version and you do not have to register anything.

wow! this is amazing - but does it mean the end of development on puppetshop tho Kees? (or at least, updates for future versions of max still an option??)

Not at all.
I will continue to develop & compile it for future versions as long as I can manage (and Autodesk doesn't make it too annoying to port plugins :scream: )

If I ever decide I no longer want to do so, I will release all of the source code publicly so somebody else can at least attempt to compile it for future versions.

I have no interest to see any of my tools go to waste as long as they are still appreciated by a good number of 3dsMax users.

Does Puppet Shop have bendy bones and stretchy IK?

Stretchy IK, yes (manual Stretch by default, but I have a video online that shows how you could have it stretch automatically if you want)

Bendy bones, not currently. Though it does have twist bones and the ability to layer FK bones on top of the IK bones to get some of this control, but not bendy bones exactly.

I divide my time between Lumonix and a small game studio I helped setup called: Slick Entertainment (www.slickentertainment.com).

I get to do the more complex stuff with Lumonix, like Skin FX, while keeping myself firmly grounded in game development.

Lots of fun.

Great read, Scrap Metal video looks like a bit of fun, I like the shoot the fuel truck part, good luck with your game, looks like it would be great on PSP or Mobile. Is Scrap Metal an XB game or other platform as well.

..curious, does anyone know if, once installed, puppetshop leaves a 'footprint' in a normal max file that would leave it unusable by anyone else without the plugin?

Just really keen to install at work, but don't want to mess up the files we use here.

I'm thinking of when I haven't actually got any puppetshop rigging in a file, just the plugin/scripts installed.
