Given a mesh with whole, connected elements (no holes), there is a superiour method for finding correct face-normals:

-select/isolate elements (meshop.getElementsUsingFace for instance)
-iterate over faces, for each find the number of intersections between said element and a ray created from the current face-normal (RayMeshGridIntersect for instance).
-if you get an odd number of hits (1,3,5 etc.), the face should be flipped. Otherwise (0,2,4 etc.) it should stay as it is.

(this requires a nice, clean model without double faces etc.)
