Looking a bit like a sci-fi toy, the RealView 360 scanner has a platform for your object that rotates while a turret-like device with dual cameras scans in all the object's surface data. The result: a single 3D image that you can import into any application. It's a way-cool trick, and RealView makes models that scan in VGA, HD and larger-format resolutions.

Looks like it just does a QTVR type thing, not an actual 3D model? Nifty, but not as cool as something that spat out a DXF and texture map would be!

I'm not sure it is just a QTVR thing, it looks similar to the Intricad 3D scanner (http://www.intricad.com/) (only not a self build unit) which is already fairly cheap and builds 3d models.

Another one avalible is David Scanner (http://www.david-laserscanner.com/).

Its all very interesting, you wonder what effect these scanners will have on the 3D Industry. Will we all be buying a lot more clay and spending less time in zbrush? :)

Those other two do look interesting!

If you look at the http://www.real-view3d.com/ site they sure make it sound like it just spits out some kind of 2D QTVR thing, nothing about any true 3D application.
