change default icon?

OK, place your icon in your maya icon folder "Program Files>AliasWavefront>Maya X>Icons(and it has to be a certain format of bitmap).

Go to Windows>Settings/Preferences>Shelves... Under the Shelf Content Tab for the shelf you have your mel on you'll see the mel icon. Click on Change Image, find your icon in the folder and select it.

let me rephrase this.... i know, its kind of a strange question...
what i mean is the one that automatically gets put on the shelf when you first drag some mel code from the script editor, for example. i want it to defalut to a different icon so then i don't have to change it manually.

if your using 4.5 or earlier, look around C:\Program Files\AliasWavefront\Maya4.5\extras\icons\USERCOMMANDBUTTON.BMP

Replacing that should replace the default icon. They changed this in 5.0.
