Just a quick question about cloth

I do not understand the workings of cloth....ive tried and tried using that step by step guide that comes with maya...but is it just me or am i the only one who cant do it.

If anyone knows of a very ...and i mean VERY simple guide to using maya cloth please link me or tell me.

A piece of cloth falling:

1. Create 4 curves that toutch each other at the ends (snap)
2. Select them
3. Cloth>Make Garment. keep selected.
4. Cloth>Make Panel
5. Select the Base resolution at the Channel Box and increase to 100
6. Create a NURBS sphere under it. Keep selected
7. Cloth> Make collision object

Play the scene and what the cloth fall and drape
