Hello,

the painting looks really good, especially the hair.

But the left eye seems to look into a other direction as the right one. Ist that possible?

Thanks. :) Yah I noticed her right eye is wonky and her sweater needs more work. It was also mentioned that her skin needs more texture. So Ill post an update soon.

First, i want to thank you for the progress pics. Second, Stunning work and beautiful woman. What jumps out at me is the eyes. Mainly her right eye. The lower eyelid isn't right, its drooping. On her left eye, it looks great except it seems un finished in the lower outer corner? I have marked in red, both. You have probably already realized these two things. I really like this painting .

This is a very confident painting, and all the more interesting because it utilises a few techniques that I've never seen before, particularly the idea of starting with the polish and filling in the background, but it obviously works.

If I have any suggestions to make (except for the bit that rick pointed out about the eyelid), they are minor and very much finishing touches; firstly the pupil in her right eye does not look central to the iris, and it's slightly off in her left eye too. The iris in the left eye does not looks quite circular either.

Less importantly, her hair in placeslooks just a little wiry(like she's been swimming in the sea), mostly because of the contrast between the thick single strands and the dark backdrop. This does not quite sit with the soft, slightly fuzzy lines of her skin. Perhaps putting a little less tonal variation and maybe a little blur or fuzzier brushwork would make it look a bit more real (see linda bergkvist's tutorial for the sort of effect I mean: http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id=3174), but this is really a minor point, since the hair looks pretty real already.

Your rendering is beautiful. The anatomy, though...it needs work. The more I look at this the more little things I see that are off, and now it's kind of disturbing to look at for me. >.< Her mouth and chin aren't in the same perspective as the rest of her face: most of her face is at about a three quarter angle, but her mouth and chin are facing almost straight towards us, about 90%. Her right eye is drooping; the shape for both her upper and lower eyelids are malformed. Her left eye is either a touch too small or a touch too low. Her nose is very...odd. I'm having a hard time describing exactly what it is I'm seeing...it doesn't look like it has a proper structure under her skin. It looks a bit like it was shaped out of putty. =/ The right side of her face (her right side, our left) is also not in perspective; her forehead, the curve of her eye socket, and her right cheekbone come out further than they should if her face is turned at that angle, while the line formed by her lower cheek and chin is much more correct.

It's very impressive for not having a sketch which defines underlying skeletal structure, perspective, and vanishing point, but, well, now it has all those little issues that paintings that don't start from sketches often get. It almost hurts to give a criticism like this, because you clearly have great rendering talent and some parts of this are truly beautiful (while I agree with the above poster who said it's a bit wiry, the hair still really is lovely). But...it was under-drawn to start with, and that's really holding it back.

The eyes were really bothering me. I lowered *her* right eye and rotated the left. It's still far from perfect but I think it's closer. Trenchcoat Pixie was right about the perspective issues.

hope this helps
