Title: Vampire Hunter
Name: Veronica Purpura
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop

This is another one of my first photo reference attempts, and another one of my first Painter projects, having been introduced to it a few months earlier. I loved doing the face, skin tones, and especially the eyes. The eyes were my favorite. Unfortunately, the size here makes it hard to show the details of the face. I hope to add close up details of parts of this image later.

The layout and design was done on Photoshop and then brought into Painter to be painted. The cloudy moon background is from a picture I took on a particulary beautiful cloudy night with a bright full moon. Please enjoy and make comments. She's a character theme study, so please don't mention having her moving. That's all.

Hello!
You have lots of interesting concepts, this one being my favorite. But I have to say that most of your work is lacking depth and definition. You can achieve a better feeling of depth by adding more contrast to your images. Using reference pictures that have more dynamic light also help if you find it difficult to find an imaginary light source.
Adding even the slightest outline to your drawings/paintings would give you better definition. You can define a shape and give it volume with just line work. Just look at this ink drawing by Picasso: http://media.photobucket.com/image/Picasso%20line%20drawings/donheff/femme.jpg .

thank you for that in depth input. I tend to work very subtly, so it's true that high contrast can be a bit difficult for me. I enjoy the suggestion and will look into it.
