How would one start to make a tree, I have tried and tried and for some silly reason i just cant get the trunk started. Is there any tutorials out there, I looked but couldnt find any.

Hm, I'm no pro at 3D but the way I would go about doing it is putting a cylinder into a hypernurbs and matrix extrude the bottom caps of the cylinder. Then manually go in and move the matrix extruded polygons so that they look like roots. Hope you can visualize what I'm saying.:) There are prob easier ways though.

See here is a ten minute example. And I was wrong, YOu dont use the end caps to amke the roots. Just matrix extrude the bottom row of polygons as seen in pic three.

pic 2, see how many rotation segments I used just by looking at this pic. Also notice I didn't use the default number of matrix steps. I did a matrix extrude step of 4 instead of the default which I believe is 8. And make sure Rotation H is set to 3 degrees.

pic 3. I simply did the matrix extrude on the red poly's. Then I just manually moved points around to irregulate the roots. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Hi there,

right now, the best I can advice you is XFrog4b, it is available as a public beta and its integration with C4D is just awesome, one of the better integrated plugins for C4D.

Hi, I'm landscape architect, but quite new with C4D application. I make and use a lot of trees, I don't model it with cinema 4D but with X-frog and remodel this trees with C4D. X-frog is a professional, hi quality application for this. Now you can download the beta X-frog 4 version. Is an excellent plug-in for C4D and you can build quickly a Tree with real aspect.

visit: X-frog.com web site (they have excellent and ultra real trees biblioteque allready for C4D format Win/Mac)

(sorry for my bad english)
