Hi everyone, I've just uploaded a new video to GuerrillaCG.org, here are the details...

New Guerrilla CG Fundamental Video: Euler Rotations Explained (http://guerrillacg.org/home/3d-rigging/euler-rotations-explained)

http://www.guerrillacg.org/images/stories/misc/frontPageVideoBanners/eulerExplainedFrontPage.jpg (http://guerrillacg.org/home/3d-rigging/euler-rotations-explained)
In this video we explore Euler Rotations, the most common method for orienting objects in 3d. It's by-product "gimbal lock" can cause headaches for animators because the animated motion can move in strange ways. Here we learn how euler's "rotation order" is a bit like hierachies, and how changing this order can help us to avoid gimbal problems. This is demonstrated with a solution to a common camera problem, by finding the correct rotation order. See the video here (http://guerrillacg.org/home/3d-rigging/euler-rotations-explained).

I found that really handy (and quite timely given that we're building a 3D engine here at work and I've been talking with the lead programmer all week about rotations and stuff like this.) Thanks! (and I'll surely be checking out other videos there.)

Wow, absolutely the most clear and understandable explanation of gimbal lock I have ever seen. The explanation for getting around it is very useful.
