Whilst I have no problems learning most programs without the help of a book, I think Maya's a little too deep for that  So I was wondering if you guys would be able to recommend some books that teach intermediate/advanced polygon modelling, low polygon modelling (characters, structures, preferably suited to games) and texturing (UV Editor, best way to map textures etc).

Things like rendering, lighting and animation I'd love to learn too, but it isn't a high priority at the moment. Though if you know of a book that covers all of the above then I'd have no problem purchasing it :)

Thanks for any help!

Maya Savvy is good if you don't own any books at the moment.

Also check out:

I started using in September and am still learning from Maya 4.5 Fundamentals. It reads very well. Maya 4.5 Savvy rocks. I haven't actually opened up Maya Character Animation yet, but it looks good sitting on my desk, despite the demonic sax playing puppet on the cover.

Of the books that are mentioned, which is pretty much the library. Maya Character Animation was the most help to me.
